My oil painting technique is multi-layered, thinning down the paint with linseed oil. I tend to build up multiple layers of paint to create dark ground initially, then 'fight back' with thin white paint to create a 'push & pull effect'.
After learning to weld, my paintings started to expand into the three dimensional realm. Utilizing pieces from the junkyard, rusted metal is taken out of the junkyard context and granted a new aesthetic value.
Rust is a random pattern that is not only beautiful, but is also a natural state of transformation as manufactured objects succumb to natures process of decomposition.
