Deborah Sawyer
Barnegat Lighthouse
2005
Oil on masonite with wood and metal frame
8" X 6"
My family owned a cottage on the New Jersey shore for many years near the Barnegat Lighthouse. When my dad, husband, and I fixed up the cottage in 2004, we replaced the deck. The wood of the had been exposed to thirty years of ocean air which created a beautiful and natural patina. Not being able to throw it away, this wood inspired me to create a painting series of my former home.
